But the details of the accident were ambiguous as Flight Commander 610 had more than 6,000 hours of flight experience, while the co- pilot had more than 5,000 hours of experience, according to Lion Air , and the weather was also normal.
However, it was revealed that the plane, which was received by the airline in the budget in August, had experienced an unspecified technical problem in its previous flight.
Was carrying 181 passengers, including one child and two babies, as well as six cabin crew members and two pilots.
More than 300 people, including soldiers, policemen and fishermen, are taking part in grim searches, recovering aircraft wreckage and personal items such as crepe mobile phones, ID cards and bags from a seafront northeast of Jakarta.
According to CNN's latest reports, rescue workers have recovered six bodies so far, which have been transferred to a hospital in eastern Jakarta. The bodies have not yet been identified.
Bambang Suriyo Agi, operations director at Pasarnas, told a news conference that rescuers had managed to find debris that looked like the tail of the plane but the main debris was not yet there.
The head of the search and rescue agency Mohamed Siouji said he was sure it would not take long to determine the airframe and black box because of the relatively shallow water (30-35 meters) in which it fell.
Three specialized research vessels, including one from Singapore, are to assist in research.
